STANISLAW LEM

There is a number of web-pages that are part of this web-presence, that are hard to find. Before I did a re-release of this site, those could only be found by following certain links hidden in the text-parts sowhere deep inside my pages. Now I made those pages more easy available, just follow the bottons below. There is a lot of fun and intersting stuff to be discovered.
STANISLAW LEM - SEER OF A FUTURE THAT MIGHT BE ... OR NOT.
Stanisław Lem was a Polish science fiction, philosophical and satirical writer. His books have been translated into 41 languages and have sold over 27 million copies. Lems works explore philosophical themes; speculation on technology, the nature of intelligence, the impossibility of mutual communication and understanding, despair about human limitations and humankind's place in the universe. They are sometimes presented as fiction, but others are in the form of essays or philosophical books.
Translations of his works are difficult, however Michael Kandel's translations into English have generally been praised as capturing the spirit of the original.  To read about Stanislaw Lem click the button below.

GHOST IN THE SHELLGHOST IN THE SHELL - INSPIRING ANIME MOVIE

During early 2004 I created two tracks („Two Cybernetic Bodies“ and „Elyseeum") featuring samples from the 1995 animé „Ghost in the shell“. This animé is to be called a masterpiece of the SF-anime-genre and a milestone for SF in general. It was created by Masamune Shirow.

The copyrights are held by Kodansha Ltd. As I am very impressed by that anime, I want to take the opportunity to draw your attention to that work. To read more about this topic click the buttons ...

JOHN CAGEJOHN CAGE - HOW SLOW IS AS SLOW AS POSSIBLE?

The tempo indication „as slow as possible“ on the score of John Cages piece ORGAN 2 / ASLAP is asking that question. - In 1985 ASLSP was created as a version for piano, but in 1987 John Cage changed it for organ at the suggestion of the organist Gerd Zacher. The question of how to realise the opus leads to the conclusion that “as slow as possible” can be thought and played infiniteley – at least as long as the life of an organ lasts and also as long as peace and creativity in the following generations exist. But the question remained: How long should the piece be? The first organ performance was 29 minutes. A recent recording lasts 71 minutes. From that question a project was developed over the time that caused a worldwide sensation.

THE BABELFISH COLLECTIONTHE BABELFISH COLLECTION - BE PART OF MY MUSIC

A good deal of my musical efforts is dealing with the integration of spoken word into the realm of sound and music. - As far back as I can remember, I was always fascinated by the sound of different languages. I try to integrate spoken word into my works in many different ways ... be it accidently overheard small-talk of a few people in the tram, be it the distorted uttering of hectic stock-brokers in a trading-floor or be it recited poetry. So I try to gather people from all over the world to work on this undertaking.

It is very easy for anyone to become part of it, to share the idea and to support this unique idea. Click the button below to recieve some basic instructions.

THE PALATINATETHE PALATINATE - A REGION IN GERMANY

The region I am living in Germany is called the Palatinate (or: Palatinium). So this fact led to the project-name as a logic consequence. By the way: it is not by accident, that my logo is carrying a stylised unicorn. The unicorn is part of the crest in my hometown, Giengen upon Brenz. So I carry the unicorn as a hommage to my hometown.

ABOUT UNICORNSABOUT UNICORNS - MYSTIC CREATURES WITH A MAGIC TOUCH

A unicorn (from Latin unus 'one' and cornu 'horn') is a mythological creature. Though the modern popular image of the unicorn is sometimes that of a horse differing only in the horn on its forehead, the traditional unicorn also has a billy-goat beard, a lion's tail, and cloven hooves these distinguish it from a horse.

"The unicorn is the only fabulous beast that does not seem to have been conceived out of human fears. In even the earliest references he is fierce yet good, selfless yet solitary, but always mysteriously beautiful. He could be captured only by unfair means, and his single horn was said to neutralize poison." Marianna Mayer, The Unicorn and the Lake.
